People Helping People
Computer Donation Program
- Chamley Enterprises has been helping people in need
of computer equipment since 1998 through a program
called People Helping People. It became the motto of
their
Community Technology Center which began operation in
June of 1999.
-
- Since the beginning of the
Technology
Center they have been receiving donations of old or
unused computer and electronic computer equipment from
private individuals and commercial institutions.
Chamley Enterprises then refurbished the equipment by,
consolidating the parts from several units and inserting
new parts into a working and useful computer system.
These systems are then donated to individuals and
families who do not have the monetary resources needed
to purchase a new or used computer equipment.
-
- Their "People Helping People" program doesn't stop
there. Through the work of the United Way and
participating with them on their board for a Senior
initiative in both Dell Rapids and Parker, Chamley
Enterprises has provided computer systems and training
to more than 500 Senior Citizens in both communities.
-
-
-
- In cooperation with the
Center for Active Generations and a national
training program called
SeniorNet, the Dell Rapids Community Technology
Center became a satellite training site for the
Center for Active Generations.
-
- Equipment donated from individuals and commercial
institutions were used for training environments, senior
centers and donations to needy individuals.

Hot Tip
When you computer locks up it is usually related to
power fluctuation in the power provided to the system. Two
possible culprits are your power outlet and your computers power
supply transformer. Check your household electrical stability
and add an uninterruptible battery backup. If you are still
having problems have a service technician check you power supply on
the computer. Cost on each runs about $40.
APC Power Protection
APC provides adequate power protection to your
computer equipment and keeps a lid on the cost as well. A
surge protector or uninterruptible battery backup ranges between
$49.95 and $249.95.
